Camera Gear

I’ve spent years going through different camera bodies, lenses and lighting equipment. I’ve found a combination that I feel gives me the best results.

Camera: Z6 II

I started out on the Nikon D200, and I love that camera. I have captured some of my most loved images on it. It is a great crop sensor camera body, but it showed its age, and it was time to move on. I upgraded to the D600, and it was another amazing body. At the beginning of this year, I picked up the D750, and from there, it was a match made in heaven. From its small body which fits perfectly in my hand, to the flip-out screen on the back, it allows me to get shots that were not possible on my previous bodies. I have now upgraded to the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless camera body. This is now my main body.

This camera is a welcomed addition to my growing gear list. It is the center of it all. So, if you see me out shooting, I am most likely using this camera body.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 85mm f1.4G Lens

For portrait photographers, the 85mm lens is a must have. I have recently purchased this lens to be my main portrait lens, as I feel this will yield the best results for the goals I am looking to achieve. I am using this lens, but I will be upgrading to the native lenses for my new camera body. I am currently looking at the Nikon Z 50mm f1.8 S. It is newer, and much sharper than the current lens that I am using, so be on the lookout for the the update.

Lighting: Godox MS300v & TT600

I’m just starting with flash photography, and I was looking for inexpensive options that gave me great results. I found the brand Godox, and I picked up the speedlite flash TT600. It’s a good on-camera flash, and works well off-camera. It was a start. I have also picked up the MS300v strobe. I like the output it gives, and the modeling light help me to see where the light is hitting my subject. It really simplifies the process, and allows me to adjust on the fly. I have paired these flashes with Godox softboxes. I have a tall strip softbox, and square popup softbox. I also have an umbrella octagon softbox as well.

I have also added the Godox V860 III, and a Godox Light ball (not pictured)

I am also looking to add the Godox AD400pro to my collection of lighting gear.
